Byju’s Education for All Program for Empowering Underprivileged Children All over India
By 2025, the Education for All program of BYJU aims to educate over 10 million underprivileged children and empower underprivileged children in the most remote regions and communities with accessible digital learning tools.
250 million children from India were among the 1.6 billion underprivileged children worldwide who were unable to attend school as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Education levels have continued to decline after two years. The learning gap is getting worse because of obstacles like a lack of access to education, infrastructure, teaching materials, and resources.
During the pandemic, the “Education for All” (EFA) program was launched by digital learning decacorn BYJU’S to democratize education and ensure that every child has the chance to learn. Students from underprivileged communities and lower socioeconomic backgrounds receive free educational resources through the social impact initiative. In addition, in just one year, it has assisted 3.4 million students.57% of students attribute their improved performance to BYJU, and girls make up 47% of the beneficiary set overall.
Mansi has been with BYJU’S for close to two years and is the Vice President, Social Initiatives. She is in charge of the company’s CSR and social impact initiatives. With a dream to democratize schooling and guarantee that each kid gets a potential chance to learn, the social effect group at BYJU under Mansi’s administration is reliably enabling oppressed youngsters in the most distant geologies and Oppressed people group.
The initial objective of the Education for All initiative was to democratize education by providing underprivileged children with access to digital learning and high-quality instruction.BYJU has partnered with 55 NGOs in 23 Indian states to advance this mission.
In addition, as part of the initiative, BYJU has provided free digital learning courses to underprivileged children all over the country. During the pandemic, most of these disadvantaged children lived in rural areas without access to education. Our center is to assist school young ladies in country regions, oppressed kids from more fragile financial foundations, distant geologies, ancestral regions, and younger students in metropolitan ghettos. The “BYJU’S Give” initiative, which was launched by Byju’s and focuses on a collection of old smartphones, laptops, and tablets, is one of the other social impact initiatives. It aims to lead equal and quality learning for every child and to address another crucial area, which is the responsible recycling of old technology. To ensure that underprivileged children continue to learn even during the pandemic, BYJU installs its content and refurbishes outdated devices as part of this initiative.
How does BYJU ensure that underprivileged children learn?
BYJU’S reached out to approximately 65 large and smaller tea estates in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal through the TEAch Me®Project in partnership with Vahdam. We have given out approximately 6000 active streaming licenses and ten learning boxes for use in learning centers for group learning. Each Android box is expected to serve between 50 and 60 students from each grade. One of these Android boxes would be used by approximately 400 children in the master canteens of the tea estates. We would serve close to 10,000 children in these tea estates if we combined these numbers.
In addition, as was previously mentioned, as part of BYJU’s Give initiative, the company encourages individuals to donate their shabby or unused smart devices. These devices are then refurbished, outfitted with BYJU content, and given to children who do not have access to digital education.
How many underprivileged children have benefited from this initiative thus far, and who will be the target audience for these associations?
Just are of the firm belief that educated individuals possess the power to alter the world and that education plays a crucial role in expanding economies. Through these alliances, we want to fulfill a single goal: to give children all over the world experiences in education that are both engaging and high-quality.BYJU aims to provide an education of equal quality that is deserved by all students, regardless of their economic status or location.
The Education for All initiative, which began in November 2020, has affected approximately 250 000 children across India, including those in remote areas like Gomtee, Rohini, Bawana, and Nagapattinam, among other places. Our goal is to empower 5 million underprivileged children by 2025.
