Space Technology Applications are being used for Digital Education in India

Space Technology Applications are being employed for digital education in the country, according to Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for science and technology. This comment was given in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on July 22. He stated that the tele-education Program uses Satellite Communication to broadcast instructional information in digital mode to 19 states and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Dr. Singh went on to say that the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) is also employing satellite communication to broadcast 51 instructional channels.

He also said that the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing is also actively interested in leveraging digital platforms to teach people about Space Technology and its applications. UG/PG and doctoral students, working professionals, academicians, school instructors, and school pupils are among the recipients. According to him, around 2.42 lakh people benefited from these programs in the previous year. “As a huge relief for young students who were always constrained to move out of #Ladakh in search of higher education, #Cabinet under PM Narendra Modi today approved the establishment of a Central University in the Union Territory”, Singh said on Twitter.

According to a press release from the PIB, Dr. Singh also indicated that the Space Sector is now open to greater engagement by non-governmental organizations. This is likely to open up a slew of new potential for space-based applications, such as digital education. The Gujarat government’s Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) provides services and solutions for establishing map-based Geospatial Information Systems. It is a Gujarat state agency based in Gandhinagar. They also do research in big data mining, machine learning and neural networks, image processing, information security, image enhancement and retrieval, image registration and satellite image processing. According to the PIB Assam’s Twitter account, the government has received 27 bids from commercial organizations for different space operations in India.
